Qigong: For Self Help. 6 Week Session (5:15 PM - 6:30 PM)
Have you experienced seemingly random body discomfort or pain? Or talked an issue through to clarity only to later discover related body tension? Do you wonder what happens to your unexpressed emotions? Are you interested in learning about the use of movement, breathing, sound and visualization as a method for connecting mind to body and relieving tension? Qigong offers insights into these questions - and much more. An Eastern healing-arts system that uses Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to balance the body, Qigong for Self-Health is based on principles of Medical Qigong Therapy (a TCM modality) and helps you explore the deep-rooted connection between your body and mind. Exercises include slow, gentle, relaxing movements, that anybody can do. Some proven benefits include reduced stress, improved health and less tension.
Matt Hayat Ph.D., MMQ, has been studying the Eastern arts for 20+ years. He holds a Masters in Medical Qigong Therapy (MMQ) degree in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) from the International Institute of Medical Qigong, a sister school of the Henan University of TCM in Zheng Zhou, China, and has taught Qigong across North America and Canada since 2005. Matt has a doctoral degree in Biostatistics from the Medical College of Wisconsin and is a faculty member at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. He has a private TCM practice in Baltimore.

Bellydance (7:30 PM - 9:00 PM)
No experience is necessary in this beginner bellydance class. This middle-eastern folk dance is a total body therapy. It promotes a steady core and improves posture and endurance. Anyone at any age or body type can take bellydance classes, especially with Mary. "What I appreciated most about Mary's bellydance class was the way she broke down the poses for me as a beginner. Not only did I understand the way the movements should look, but I learned how to feel them in my body in a way that made me feel more flexible and strong and more in control of my every little muscle... which is a huge accomplishment for someone at my age and fitness level." - Sheila, age 56 "My favorite part of the class was hearing Mary tell the history of bellydance. We learned how the original intention of bellydance was celebration of women for women around women, rather than a dance form for the entertainment of men. I appreciated learning to celebrate curves in the presence of other women". - Ashley, 27
Come join the fun in this 6 week session! 8 students minimum for the class to begin. $69 for all 6 weeks. $15 drop in price

Getting present to what we really want. i.e. What are our clear intentions, the changes we seek, the way we want to feel everyday, what would be the image of the most empowering, fulfilling, and healthy life? 3. Getting exposure to a variety of healthy lifestyle choices that are easily integrated into daily life and take only 5 - 10 minutes. i.e. a variety of meditation techniques (you decide which ones are the most suitable and realistic for you) delicious foods and nutrition topics. 4. Setting up a full proof system of accountability so that we reach our goals. i.e. the sister-system and an online internet group that is open to those who have taken this course with chats and discussion groups. $450 if paid in full./ $500 with a payment plan Are you a Sister from a previous sister system course?
